Fellowships and Awards

Graduate Philosophy Travel Grants

The Institute for Ethics and Public Affairs offers Political Philosophy Research and Travel grants supported by a fund established by the James Hervey Johnson Charitable Educational Trust.

Individual grants of up to $400 are awarded to graduate students enrolled in the philosophy department. The graduate student must be enrolled at the university during the time of travel and grants are to be used in support of research and travel related to research. The intent is to increase the overall support provided by the University for excellent work in the field of philosophy. Grants can be used to augment resources already available at San Diego State Univesity from other sources.

Students may apply at any time during the year. Students seeking support for summer research travel should submit an application by April 1, 2015. There will be another round of funding available in fall 2015.
